Where Are Home Values Headed?

Today, many real estate conversations center on housing prices and where they may be headed. A great resource to get answers on this subject is the Home Price Expectation Survey.

Every quarter, Pulsenomics surveys a nationwide panel of 100+ economists, real estate experts and investment & market strategists about where they believe home values are headed over the next 5 years.

Latest survey results:

Home values will appreciate by 4.0% in 2016, 3.4% in 2017 and 3.0% in 2018-2019, and finally 2.8% in 2020 (as shown below). This means the average annual home appreciation will be 3.2% over the next 5 years.  Home equity positions are predicted to increase.

Cumulative Appreciation

The prediction for cumulative appreciation slowed slightly from 25.0% to 24.7% by 2020. Even the bears are projecting a cumulative appreciation of 9.9%.
